The recommendation system requires having a logistics network with at least one hub network configured. If your organisation hasn’t set up a logistics network yet, please refer an Officer to the Create a logistics network guide. If your organisation hasn’t set up a hub network yet, please refer an Officer to the Create hub networks guide.

What is the recommendation system?

The recommendation system in FoxStock is designed to help members easily manage and distribute resources within their organisation’s logistics network. It provides suggestions on which stockpiles need restocking or have excess items based on predefined targets set by officers.

How to use the recommendation system?

Go to the dashboard

Log in to FoxStock and navigate to the Dashboard  page. Select your organisation from the dropdown at the top-right corner if you belong to multiple organisations.

Recommendation list

On the dashboard, you will see a section dedicated to recommendations. This section will highlight stockpiles that require attention based on the targets defined by officers. You can choose with Hub Network you want to view recommendations for if you have multiple hub networks set up.

Take action

Based on the recommendations, you can decide to transfer items between stockpiles to ensure optimal resource distribution. Follow the prompts provided by the recommendation system to facilitate these transfers.

Recommendations take the form of suggested transfers between stockpiles. For example, if Stockpile A has excess items and Stockpile B is below its target, the recommendation system will suggest transferring a specific quantity of items from Stockpile A to Stockpile B. It can also suggesting moving items from multiple stockpiles to a single stockpile that needs restocking.

Pay attention

The stockpile names are marked with different colors. These colors mean how outdated the stockpile, or more simply: how long ago was the last time someone submitted an item update to that stockpile. There are four colors: Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red. Green means the stockpile was updated recently, while Red means it hasn’t been updated for a long time.

You can update stockpile data by submitting item updates to the stockpile. This can be done if you have the necessary permissions to submit items to that stockpile. See our guide on updating stockpile items for more information.

Try to prioritise stockpiles that are Green or Yellow, as their data is more likely to be accurate. Be cautious when dealing with Orange or Red stockpiles, as their information may be outdated.

There is a button “Start Delivery” below recommendations. This feature isn’t fully implemented yet! For now, please ignore this button and manually perform the recommended transfers between stockpiles.

The recommendation system is a tool to assist members in managing resources effectively. However, it’s essential to communicate with your officers and fellow members to ensure that the logistics operations align with the organisation’s overall strategy and goals.
